Feb 7 2015 - SJTC Winís Provincial Club Championships
The New Brunswick Indoor Track and Field Championships took place this past Saturday in Oromocto. The event proved to be a spectacular one with 17 provincial records set and many quality performances!
The team Championships was a heated affair with Saint John Track Club winning the banner by only 10 points with 458 points, Moncton Based Athlétisme Sud-Est South East Athletics (ASEA) was close behind with 448.5 points. Fredericton Legion Track Club was 3rd with 395.5 points.
- Dave Jefferson of Saint John broke four records in the master's 70-75 category, competing in running, jumping, and throwing events. In the 60m, Jefferson ran 10.33 to break his record of 10.46, while in the 60m hurdles he ran a time of 13.36 to take almost a second off his record. In the triple jump, Dave jumped 7.11m to break Lloyd Hodgin's record of 6.11m, set in 2012. Lastly, in the weight throw, Dave threw 13.00m to break his own provincial record by 60 centimeters!
- Bruce Rosvall of Rothesay had two great performances, breaking the master's 50-55 records in each. In the 200m, Bruce ran a time of 27.46, and in the 400m, 59.53; becoming only the second master's athlete in the province to dip under the 60 second barrier.
