May 23 2013 - Burrows Family - Triathlon Success!

PERSONS ON THE RUN - Daryl Steeves - Telegraph Journal

This week our Person on the Run goes to someone I knew we would be featuring sometime this season. The trick would be when to pick his most significant accomplishment. Well this seemed to be the perfect week to match up his accomplishment with his mom's. This was a big week for the Burrows triathlon family. Gina Spear-Burrows has been chosen to be inducted into the Saint John Sports Hall of Fame this June for her accomplishments in running and triathlon. Gina has won her age group in Ironman Canada and was fourth in her age group at the World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Also this week, son Reid Burrows received a call that he will be representing Canada at the Pan American Triathlon Championships in Brazil next month. Thanks to you both for reminding us that even in little New Brunswick we can aspire to big things. Gotta run.

Daryl Steeves is the regional administrative director of laboratory services for Horizon Health Network and writes a weekly column on running in New Brunswick.

Reid has been a long time member of the Saint John Track Club and Gina was as well in her younger days being a member of a number of Provincial Legion teams. Congratulations to both of them. Way to go Team Burrows!
