Mar 17 2013 - Canadian Master's Indoor Champs - Dave Jefferson

Congratulation to Patty Blanchard of Dieppe , who was part of Team Canada Women that broke the world masters record  W50-55  in the 4x800m relay on the first day of the Canadian Masters Indoor Championships in Toronto. They ran a time of 10:32.66. This broke the existing record from an American team who ran 10:38.97 last year.

SJTC's David Jefferson was at the champs competing in the shot put with a PB of 7.70m for second place breaking the NB record by 40cm. Dave went on to get 1st in the weight throw with a toss of 10.74 and 1st in the triple jump with a jump of 6.44. 

Mar 16 2013 - Atlantic Indoor Champs

The Atlantic Indoor Track & Field Championships took place this past Saturday at the CEPS indoor track in Moncton. Many personal bests were set along with many New Brunswick indoor records.    

On the women's side:   

- Mary Brosnan of Saint John (Saint John Track Club) set a new masters 55-60 age group record in the 800m and 3000m with times of 3:28.89 and 14:01.28 respectively.  

 On the men's side: 

 - Mitch Quigg of Saint John (Saint John Track Club)  broke the senior men's pole vault record with a great jump of 3.70m. This breaks the old record of 3.15m set by Scott Morrison in 1997! 

 - Erik Klein of  Hampton (Saint John Track Club) broke the masters 35-40 age group record in the 60m with a time of 7.90 seconds, and in the 200m with a time of 26.04 seconds.   

 - William Anderson of  Saint John (Saint John Track Club) set the masters 65-70 age group record in the 3000m with a great time of 16:05.68.   

- New Brunswick Masters also set 2 new Provincial record in the 4x200 first the team of Erik Klein, Andrew Justason, Steve Leblanc and Phil Davis set the 40-45 with  a time of 1:54.89 , while the team of Yvan Pelletier, Bill Macmackin, Edward Bourque and Ross Britton set a new 55-60 record with a time of 2:01.76 

A great 3000m race took place featuring two of the fastest age class runners in Canada, Nick MacMackin won the junior age category in a time of 8:45.81, and training partner Josh Shanks won the youth event in a time of 8:49.27.   The duo went on to do that same in the 1500m later in the day.

The Team banner went to Athlétisme South East / Sud-Est Athlétisme (ASEA) took home the championship banner with a total core of 456 points, with Saint John Track Club scoring second in 377 points, and Halifast Athletics taking 3rd in 274 points.    "These were truly amazing results for out athletes, with so many provincial records this bods well for athletics in New Brunswick" said Gabriel LeBlanc, technical director of Athletics New Brunswick.

Mar 10 2013 - Grace Annear - Top ANB Performer at CIS Champs

Mar 9 2013 - NB athletes at CIS Championships

Edmonton-A total of 10 New Brunswick athletes competed at the CIS Championships this past weekend. 

New Brunswick top performer had to be Grace Annear of Hampton competing for  the University of Victoria . She first set a provincial record in the preliminary heats of the 600m in a time 1:31.81. In the finals she finished 6th overall in a time of 1:33.12. She was also a member of the gold winning 4x800m  team with her  Uvic teamates . Her team ran 8:51.36 winning by almost 2 seconds. She was also part of the bronze medal4x400m  team that finished in a time of  3:48.42.

Also competing for University of Victoria , Adam Gaudes of Fredericton finished 4th overall in the 600m in 1:20.51. He was also part of the Uvic's 4x800m team that finished 4th in 7:37.34  and in the 4x400m team that finished 5th in 3:19.11. 

Guelph University was represented by 3 New Brunswick athletes: Lydia Frost of Bocabec competed in the 1000m  finishing in  5th in the in a time of 2:53.12  while Nadine Frost of Bocabec  finished 9th in the same event in  2:56.39, Nadine also finished 12th in the 1500m in a time of 4:47.17. Geneviève Lalonde of Moncton finished 5th in the 3000m in 9:51.83 , and 10th in the 1500m in 4:42.35.  All 3 runners were part of Guelph's 4x800m team that finished 3rd in 9:00.80.

Alexandra Black of Yoho Lake competing for the University of New Brunswick finished 11th in women's shot put with a throw of 12m07. 

-Sarah Taplin , from Moncton  a rookie for Dalhousie University finished 10th in the triple jump with a leap of 11.47m. 

-Jason Mackenzie , a 5 year student from Campbellton and competing for l’Université de Moncton finished 10th in the Men’s Pentathlon with  3 351 points. His second highest ever point total.

-Alexa-Maude Mallais, a 5th year student for Duguayville also of L’Université de Moncton also finished 10th in the women’s 60m in 7.81, this is also her second fastest run over this distance.

-Ryan Cassidy of Grand Digue (Victoria) was unable to finish his 3000m race.

The women's team title went to the University of Calgary while the men's title to Guelph University.
