May 30 2011 - NBIAA SW Regional Meet
SJTC has strong showing at South West Regional Track Meet
Club members had very strong performances at this weekend’s regional meet with many advancing to the provincial champs on June 4th.
The provincial champs will see nearly 500 athletes from 43 NB high schools compete in the largest NBIAA sporting event of the school year.
Congratulations to the following athletes who won their events on Saturday.

May 30 2011 - 2011 Saint John Hershey and Twilight Track and Field Meet
The 2011 Saint John Hershey and Twilight Track and Field Meet is being held at the Canda Games Stadium on Thursday, June 9th. Registration begins at 5:30pm and events will begin at 6:15pm, with things wrapping up around 8pm. Age Groups and events are as follows:
Boys and Girls
9-10 (Born 2001 and 2002)- 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m relay, standing long jump and softball throw
11-12 (Born 1999 and 2000)- 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 4x100m relay, standing long jump and softball throw
13-14 (Born 1997-1998)- 100m, 200m, 800m, 1600m, 4x100m relay, standing long jump and softball throw
Open- 200m, 1600m
The local meet is the first step in the Hershey track and field program. The top 5 athletes in each event will be elligible to compete at the Provincial Hershey track meet on June 26th in Saint John, followed by the Althantic Hershey track meet in Moncton on July 9th. A minimum of 5 and a maximum of 25 athletes from the atlantic provinces will then be selected to attend the Hershey North American Finals in August.

This meet is a great oportunity for new and experienced athletes to compete and have a lot of fun. We want to see big numbers, so come on out and participate!
May 30 2011 - UNB Saint John Summer Track and Field Camp
UNB Saint John Summer Sports Camps is partnering up with the Saint John Track Club to hold their very first track and field camp this summer! It will be held from Monday, July 18th until Wednesday, July 20th, and will run from 9am-12pm. All activities will take place at the newly refurbished Canada Games Stadium. It is for children ages 8-12 and includes fun games, running skills, specialty events, relays and snacks!

May 30 2011 - Jeux Regionaux
SJTC members from the Jeux Regionaux last weekend. They will be representing Sud Est at the Jeux de L'Acadie in Edmundston on July 2nd and 3rd.
Pierre Dumouchel- 1st place in the 800m and 1200m which qualifies him to compete in the 800m, 1200m and the medley team
Paul Tremblay- 1st place in the 2000m and qualified in the 800m by beating the standard which qualifies him to compete in the 800m and the 2000m
Anthony Cormier- 1st place in the 200m and long jump (with a new PB of 5.18m), 2nd place in the 100m which qualifies him to compete in the 200m, long jump, 4x100 relay and the medley team
May 26 2011 - New Balance Boston Twilight Meet
Boston Track Meet places Saint John Athletes in the national rankings.
May 21rd, 2011: A small group of Saint John TC Athletes traveled to the Boston area last weekend to compete in the New Balance Twilight Series. Nick MacMackin and Grace Annear each achieved personal best performances that place them in the top 10 of Athletics Canada national rankings.
Grace’s 2.14.44 in the 800m pushed her into the #7 spot on the junior rankings.
Nick’s 3.58.96 in the 1500 puts Nick #1 in the youth rankings to date this season.
It is only early in the competitive season and lots of results will start to flow into the rankings but this is a great start for these two athletes for the 2011 season.

It may not be a warm spring but the results on the track are hot. This weekend’s meet in Moncton produced some exception times and personal bests. We had so many personal bests I am afraid we may miss one.

These are awesome results for so early in the season. Well done everyone.
May 15 2011 - Barry has double win at NCAA Western Athletic Conference
Barry Britt is turning heads . This past weekend the Hampton, NB native won both the 5000m and 1000m at the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Championships this past weekend in Honolulu, Hawaii. Barry first ran the 10000m on Friday night in a time of 30:24.99 which is the fastest time ever on the track by a New Brunswick athlete ( the previous record was held by Carole Lepage who in 1997 ran 31:19.5) and the 4th fastest time by a Canadian this year. On Saturday night, Barry then ran a 14:33.73 to win the 5000m. Barry is a member of Saint John Track Club. He currently runs for the University of Idaho

May 7 2011 - Introducing Rachelle McDonald, Junior Development Coach
The Saint John Track Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Rachelle McDonald as a summer coach. Rachelle will be responsible for coaching our Junior Development program, helping to organize meets and assist with club administration. As a long time member of the club and one of our UNBSJ Track Team members Rachelle brings a wealth of experience to the position. She was recognized earlier this season by UNBSJ as their most dedicated team member.
