Jun 23 2014 - SJTC Retains Provincial Title

For the second year in a row the Saint John Track Club won the provincial team title at the NB Championships held in Saint John on June 21st.  Accumulating 47 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals SJTC proved that it is the premiere track club in New Brunswick. 

 

SJTC had athletes receive medals in all event areas and all age groups.  It was referred to as a total team effort by HP Coach Jason Reindl.  “SJTC athletes have been working very hard and it is great to see them receiving recognition for their efforts.  Anytime that you can say that your a provincial champion is a great thing,” said HP coach Jason Reindl.

 

“This banner shows that from our RJT to Masters programs and everything in between that track and field can offer something for anyone.  We are very proud of the opportunities and programs that we offer as a club.   Our athletes are always happy and have a smile on their faces but when they can put a medal around their neck and know they are part of a team banner it is even sweeter,” added Reindl.

SJTC junior and senior athletes will be competing at the up coming Canadian Senior Championships being held in Moncton June 27-29 and on Sunday June 29th many of our youth athletes will be competing in the provincial Hershey Championships for a chance to compete at the Maritime Hershey Championships that are being held in Saint John on July 5th.

Jun 8 2014 - NBIAA Provincials - Teams bring 2 banners home to Saint John

Saint John High (AAA) & Ecole Samuel de Champlain (A) Win Provincial Track & Field Champs

The SJHS Greyhounds staged a repeat performance to win the NBIAA “AAA” Track and Field Championships this past weekend in Rexton for the 2nd year in a row. The powerful Greyhound squad won a total of 31 medals (8 Gold, 12 Silver and 11 Bronze). On the point side, SJHS had enough 8 performances to score a total of 303 points beating FHS by nearly 40 points.

 

Long standing champion Bonar Law of Rexton used home turf advantage to win the “AA” banner for the 9th consecutive year.

 

On the “A” side Samuel de Champlain captured the banner for the second year in a row winning 5 medals in total led by veteran Pierre Dumouchel who won two medals including gold in the 800m.

 

Senior SJHS athletes, Victoria Leblanc, Anthony Cormier and Josh Shanks had great performances each winning two events and medaling in one other accounting for almost a third of the SJHS medal haul.
