SJ Track Club Invitational Cross Country Meets:
The Saint John Track Club is hosting two cross country meets at the JD Irving Park in West Saint John at the Former Centra-care site. The first meet will be on September 27th for High Schools and Middle Schools. The second meet is on October 12th for Elementary Schools. ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine cross country teams opened the season on Friday afternoon with a dual meet against New Hampshire on the Maine cross country course. The Black Bear men won 24-32 over the Wildcats, while the women were defeated 20-51. Maine won both individual races, as Kirby Davis was the top men's finisher and Jessica Belliveau was the top female finisher.
"It was a good first meet for the men," said head coach Mark Lech. "Both teams were missing some top runners, but I was encouraged by several of the freshmen who ran a good race for their first meet and they will continue to improve. For the women, I was mildly surprised by Jessica Belliveau. I knew she would be a good runner, but she is a great competitor and held
In the women's race, freshman Jessica Belliveau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) was first overall with a time of 18:14 on the five kilometer course. Shelby Howe (Columbia, Maine) was ninth overall in 19:26, while freshman Jolene Belanger (Glenburn, Maine) was eleventh in 19:41. Laura Brustolon (Mystic, Conn.) finished in 20:01 and Teig Choroszy (Saco, Maine) crossed the line in 20:15 to round out the top five scorers.
The Black Bears will travel to Amherst next weekend to face Massachusetts. The next home meet will be the Murray Keatinge Invitational on September 30. For more information on Maine Athletics, please visit www.GoBlackBears.com.

Hampton Five Mile Road Race:
Congratulations to all athletes and parents.
Congrats to everyone who participated in the Hampton 5 Miler last weekend especially Barry Britt who won the race in a new record time. Zoe Britt (Barry's sister) and Nick MacMackin who won the “Aliant Kid’s Kilometers.”
